Overview of the Seven Subtleties of Satan
(That Old Serpent)

Scriptures: 2 Corinthians 4:3-4; 2 Corinthians 11:3-4, 13-15; Genesis 3:1-5

2 Corinthians 4:3-4

3 "But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:

4 In whom the god of this world (Satan) hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them."

Satan is in the process of blinding people's minds to the true gospel.

2 Corinthians 11:3-4

3 "But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.

4 For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him."

We will be looking at the example of how Satan beguiled Eve, and the methods he used.

2 Corinthians 11:13-15

13 "For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.

14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.

15 Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works."

These verses give us an idea of who the "he that cometh" that preaches another gospel in verse 4 might be referring to.  Satan or his fallen angels and demons will often deceive one or two people, then use those folks to deceive multitudes.  In this section we will be looking at examples of that.

Genesis 3:1-5

1 "Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?

2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:

3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.

4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:

5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil."
